Getting started
Module Onboarding
New to ItReserve? This guide walks you through every step from checkout to your first module live and verified against your Reservit account. Most customers are fully operational within the same business day they receive their access email.
Step-by-step activation guide
Six steps from purchase to live module. Follow them in order — each step builds on the previous one.
Receive your access email
Within 24 hours of completing checkout, you will receive an email from support@itreserve.org. The subject line is "Your ItReserve module access is ready". If it does not appear in your inbox within 24 hours, check your spam folder and then contact support@itreserve.org with your order confirmation number.
The access email contains: your unique dashboard access link (valid for 72 hours from sending), your order summary listing the modules you have subscribed to, and a link to this onboarding guide. Keep the email — the dashboard link is the only way to access your account until you set up a recurring login method in Account Settings.
Log into the dashboard via the email link
Click the "Access your ItReserve dashboard" button in the access email. This opens the ItReserve dashboard in your browser and authenticates your session automatically. No password is required — your access link is a one-time authentication token. You will remain logged in for 8 hours, after which you can request a new access link from the dashboard login page.
Once inside the dashboard, you will see your module overview screen showing each module you have subscribed to with a status of "Pending setup". The first step the dashboard prompts you to complete is connecting your Reservit account — covered in step 3.
Enter your Reservit API key
Navigate to Account Settings → Reservit Connection in the ItReserve dashboard. Paste your Reservit API key into the field provided. Your Reservit API key is found in Settings → Integrations or Settings → API within your Reservit account dashboard. If you cannot locate it, refer to Lesson 01 of the ItReserve Academy for step-by-step instructions.
After pasting the key, click "Verify connection". The dashboard will send a test request to the Reservit API using your credentials. If the connection succeeds, you will see a green "Connected" indicator with your Reservit property name displayed. If the verification fails, double-check that the API key was copied in full with no trailing spaces, and confirm with Reservit that API access is enabled on your subscription tier.
Enable your first module
Return to the module overview screen and click "Configure" on the first module you want to activate. Each module has a brief configuration wizard that walks you through the settings specific to that module. For most modules, the wizard takes 5–15 minutes to complete.
Configuration varies by module type. Yield Manager asks you to select the rate plans you want it to manage and configure your first set of pricing rules. Channel Bridge asks you to map your Reservit room types to the target channels you want to add. Invoice Module asks for your company details, invoice number prefix and VAT configuration. Guest Comms asks you to select the message triggers and edit the message templates.
You do not need to configure every module on your first day. Start with the module that addresses your most pressing current challenge and add additional modules as you become comfortable with the dashboard.
Verify the connection
After completing a module's configuration wizard, click "Activate module". The module immediately performs an initial sync with your Reservit account. On the module's status page, you will see the sync progress — typically completing within 2–5 minutes for most properties.
Once the initial sync completes, verify that the module has read the correct data from your Reservit account: check that the rate plans, room types or reservations shown in the module match what you see in your Reservit dashboard. If any data appears missing or incorrect, use the "Sync now" button to trigger a fresh pull from the Reservit API, or contact support@itreserve.org if the discrepancy persists.
For Yield Manager: check the rates displayed in the module against your current Reservit rate plan values. For Channel Bridge: confirm that your room types appear correctly in the channel mapping screen. For Invoice Module: generate a test invoice from a recent completed reservation and verify that the folio details are correct.
Review settings and go live
Before enabling any automated actions — automated rate updates in Yield Manager, automated channel updates in Channel Bridge, automated messages in Guest Comms — review the module's settings one final time with a critical eye. Ask: are my rate floors and ceilings set correctly? Are the correct rate plans selected? Are the message templates written in the tone I want guests to receive?
When you are satisfied, toggle the module's automation on from the module settings page. From this point, the module operates automatically in the background, checking for triggers and performing its configured actions without requiring manual intervention. Monitor the module's activity log over the next 24–48 hours to confirm it is behaving as expected.
First-week tips
Each module has an activity log showing every action taken and every data sync performed. During your first week, review the log each morning. This takes two minutes and immediately surfaces any unexpected behaviour before it has an impact.
If you have activated Yield Manager, begin with wide price-change thresholds so the module only triggers on significant demand signals. Tighten the rules progressively as you build confidence in its behaviour over the first two weeks.
Before real guests receive automated messages, create a test reservation in Reservit using an internal email address. Verify that the Guest Comms triggers fire correctly and that the message templates read as intended.
If you have not already done so, read both ItReserve Academy lessons during your first week. The channel management lesson in particular contains configuration insights that are directly applicable to Channel Bridge and Yield Manager setup.
Our support team is happy to review your module configuration during the first 30 days and suggest improvements. Send your current rule setup or template content to support@itreserve.org with the subject "Configuration review" — it is not necessary to wait until something goes wrong to reach out.
